June 07, 2016

Once the weather permits, Chicago seems to come alive with numerous options for al fresco dining. While enjoying the nice weather and taking in the sights are a draw on their own, dog owners are mostly excited about being able to bring their pups with them to experience all the city has to offer. Check out some of the best dog-friendly patios in Chicago, and see how some venues cater to your four-legged friend!

Located in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, Bistronomic specializes in traditional French cuisine with a modern twist. Different from typical bistro style cuisine, the menu is filled with contemporary signature dishes like Handmade Squid Ink Yukon Gold Gnocchi and Maple Leaf Duck Breast. Bistronomic is an ultra dog-friendly venue that allows dogs both inside the dining area and outside in the terrace. Complimentary water is provided for all dogs, and they are in the process of cultivating a specialty dog menu. Currently, they offer a canine to-go dish made with quinoa, seasonal vegetables, and your choice of either chicken or beef.

Located in the Fulton Market District in Chicago’s West Loop, Formento’s specializes in Southern-Italian cuisine that focuses on light and airy flavors. The outdoor area boasts the widest patio in the West Loop, and features rows of stringed lights and plenty of foliage. Perfect for those with larger dogs that need a bit more room, the outdoor space is a treat for the eyes and senses.

312 Chicago

Located in The Loop, 312 Chicago specializes in Italian cuisine with a contemporary twist. Serving up regional favorites with an evolving menu, 312 Chicago is a favorite among diners looking for signature dishes that use seasonal ingredients. Every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., they offer complimentary home-made dog treats for all guests enjoying brunch or a light snack. A special Doggie Menu features $7 entrees with dog-friendly dishes like Salmon and White Rice or Chicken and Pasta. There are also smaller treats like the Peanut Butter Biscuit or Beefcicle offered for just $4.
