Walker Spotlight: Isamar M.

September 25, 2019

We love our walkers at Windy City Paws, and this month we want to introduce to you to Isamar, who has been with us for over a year!

Where are you from?
Chicago!

How did you end up in Chicago?
I was lucky enough to be born here!

What is your favorite pastime?
Going on walks with my dog, bike rides, playing with makeup and going to concerts.

What is your hidden talent?
I want to believe I’m kind of psychic. It’s weird, but sometimes I’m very spot-on on certain things. Might be pure coincidence though, but I would like to stick with “psychic,” that sounds much cooler.

Do you have pets? If so, what kind and what are their names? Tell us about their personalities.
Yes! I have a dog, Paloma. She is such a cute and spoiled girl, but so lovable. I have two cats, Changolla and Chikis. Changolla, my first daughter, is quite the chatterbox and such a sweetheart! Chikis is a grumpy girl, but that doesn’t take away from how adorable she is! Also have a couple of birds, zebra finches and ring-necked  doves- they keep our place from being too quiet.

If you were a dog, what breed would you be and why?
A basset hound for sure. They’re very chill, but I can relate to their stubbornness.

If dogs could run for public office, which breed do you think would make the best president?
Dachshunds, no doubt! They’re super cute, but also have strong personalities and are very determined, I trust them completely.

Why did you decide to become a dog walker?
I wanted a job that had to do with pets.  I love animals, they’re so cute and fun! Couldn’t think of a better job than spending time with sweet fur-babies! It definitely beats out retail.

What’s the weirdest thing about being a dog walker?
Not sure if this is weird, I personally find it funny, but I guess it would be that some dogs are a bit more obedient with their dog walkers than with their owners. I’ve had owners tell me their dogs do things for me that they never normally do for their owners. It’s funny, but also very flattering! I love knowing the pups love and trust me enough to be extra good for me!

What would people never guess is part of your job as a dog walker?
That each dog has a different routine and needs! A lot of people think all dogs are created equally, but they’re just like humans and each require different needs, attention and even approach. They’d also be impressed  with how easy it is to catch on to said routines.

What is your biggest pet peeve while walking dogs?
Slow and/or packed elevators, very annoying!

What’s the best part about being a dog walker?
All the love I get from my pups! I love them as if they were my own. It makes my day when I see their tails wagging when they see me and then run to me for a hug- it’s so fulfilling!
