We love our walkers at Windy City Paws, and we want to introduce to you to Melody, who has been with us for over a year!
Where are you from?
I’m from Villa Park, IL.
How did you end up in Chicago?
I’ve always been enamored with the hustle and bustle of the city, the gorgeous architecture and that Chicago breeze! I wanted to work down here since I was in high school, so it was a dream come true when I started dog walking in Lakeview in 2015.
What is your favorite pastime?
Traveling the country to attend amazing festivals and concerts, camping, riding roller coasters, and cozying up with a good book (especially Harry Potter!)
Do you have pets? If so, what kind and what are their names? Tell us about their personalities.
I have a dog name Mollee and I know I’m biased, but she’s the best dog ever! She loves to give kisses, cuddle and run around the backyard. She can be a bit of a diva if you wake her up in the middle of the night. She gets that from me!
If you were a dog, what breed would you be and why?
Definitely a chihuahua. Small but mighty! They also really enjoy people sometimes but also relish in their alone time, which is how I am too!
If dogs could run for public office, which breed do you think would make the best president?
I’d say a Saint Bernard. They’re smart, brawny and they’re used to rescuing people!
Why did you decide to become a dog walker?
I’ve wanted to work with animals for as long as I can remember, and dogs make me so happy! Plus it’s great exercise!
What’s the weirdest thing about being a dog walker?
Dealing with poop!
What would people never guess is part of your job as a dog walker?
Taking fantastic photos and creating fun service notes every day!
Where is your favorite place to walk dogs?
On the Lakefront Trail, especially the parts that are on the beach where we can watch the waves!
What are the best things you’ve learned since becoming a dog walker?
How to read dogs through their body language, how to handle any crisis that you may encounter, and learning about and working with all kinds of breeds!
What’s the best part about being a dog walker?
Building relationships with the pups, being outside, taking cute and creative photos of them, and loving every minute of my “work day!”
