The Anti-Cruelty Society’s Bark in the Park 2017

May 26, 2017

The Windy City Paws staff had so much fun volunteering at Bark in the Park on May 21, 2017! Read on to see what this event is all about!

The Anti-Cruelty Society is Chicago’s oldest and largest private, open-admission animal welfare organization. It has been helping pets and educating the community for more than 118 years!

Our Walker Manager Gary enjoyed his time as an “Official Dog Sitter” at Bark in the Park! Here he is with our walkers Nathaniel and Angela and a pup he was dog sitting!

Our “dog sitters” had official badges!

Bark in the Park is the The Anti-Cruelty Society’s single largest fundraising event of the year. 2017’s event was held at the Stadium Green at Soldier Field on a beautiful and sunny day to mark its 23rd year! This important fundraiser was the first pet-friendly event held in Chicago, and with more than 3,000 participants, it is one of the largest as well!

WCP’s founder Katie had fun meeting all the pups at Bark in the Park!

At Bark in the Park, participants could run or walk in a 5K race, participate in a scavenger hunt, browse local vendors, and have their pup go through a free agility course! Participants who walk the 5K were also welcome to bring their dog along for the walk.

Our walkers Kalena and Angela and our Field Supervisor Lauren had so much fun on the Welcome Team at Bark in the Park!

The Windy City Paws crew came out to volunteer at this wonderful event, and we all had a blast helping to raise awareness and funds for Chicago’s homeless pets at The Anti-Cruelty Society! Check out some of our awesome photos from the event here.

Our walker Sarah and her boyfriend Richard had so much fun on the 50/50 Raffle Team!

Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who make this event possible, including our own Windy City Paws staff!

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
